One of the best baby toys: orange juice lids. When she's older, she can learn to sort and stack them. John and the twins had a similar toy: AOL CD-ROMs. These are nearly as plentiful, but much safer to our music collection.

Sylvia's gown was made by her grandmother Catherine, who used vintage cloth to give it that antique look.

The child dedication service. Like a Christening, but without the theological overtones.

Sylvia gets a rose. No thorns, which is good: the stem goes immediately in the mouth, like everything else. To Sylvia's left is Graham, whose pictures can be seen at http://www.davidkrewinghaus.com/graham/ not quite visible is Issac, whose pictures are at http://www.usscplus.com/blogs/isaac/
