Sylvia can still fit all her toes in her mouth. Just not on film.

Her first spaghetti.

Giggling in Grinnell.

Okay, so she doesn't recognize most of the people here, but we do. (More Grinnell reunion.)

On the way back we visited Des Moines, where Sylvia's cousin, David Zachary, was born the week before. We didn't get a picture of him, but here's Sylvia with her grandfather.
|
Visiting Jordan's family in Alaska: Hilary (her sister) and Catherine (her mom). Matt, who is now Hilary's husband, is in the background. We're on his boat, watching humpback whales and fishing for halibut.

The halibut we caught. (Ask us about the one that got away.)

We got away from Sylvia long enough to take a plane ride over a glacier.

This is the last picture the camera got before loosing its battery; note the shadow of the airplane below. We figured it would be best to get a picture while holding the camera outside the airplane. Holding the window and the camera when the plane is moving at over 100 miles an hour proved to be difficult. Fortunately I had the camera strapped to my arm. Unfortunately the wind ripped the battery compartment open. The battery is somewhere within millions of tons of ice, where it might be crushed and will certainly not be found for centuries.

4th of July. Sylvia is dressed up for the Petersburg, AK cutest baby contest. She didn't win, but the competition was tough.
